Davina McCall on Changing Rooms comeback "Everyone's going decor mad"

Bring on colour, patterns, textures and imagination… Minimalism begone! Changing Rooms is back and it’s bringing interior design legend Laurence Llewelyn Bowen with it. Channel 4, in partnership with Dulux, has commissioned Shine TV (part of Banjay UK) to make a new version of the legendary ‘90s and ‘00s home-DIY series, giving it a fresh lick of paint for an era of pinspiration and insta-interiors. Presented by Davina McCall, Changing Rooms sees two sets of homeowners from the same neighbourhood work against the clock to renovate a room in each other’s houses. They might not share the same tastes, but they are completely in charge of creating a new look for the chosen room – and anything goes. The homeowners will be making all the decisions about the makeovers, and as a nation of interiors and style obsessives, expectations are higher than ever. In true Changing Rooms style, the transformations will be spectacular, innovative and, quite possibly, unexpected. Along the way, our bol...

When is the new Princess Diana documentary on? airdate

The Queen described Princess Diana’s sensational Panorama interview with Martin Bashir as a “frightful thing that my daughter-in-law did,” a new TV show will claim. The surprise revelation comes from former BBC Governor and Royal National Theatre boss Richard Eyre in a documentary that also uncovers that the BBC decided against officially telling Buckingham Palace about the controversial interview, and that Diana was “rehearsed” to answer the questions. But it’s the revelation of the Queen’s attitude to the Panorama interview that will surprise observers since the monarch rarely gives her opinion on issues if at all. Said Richard Eyre: “I had lunch with the Queen not long after [the interview went out]. She said to me unprompted, ‘How are things at the BBC?’ I said, ‘Fine’. She said, ‘Frightful thing to d...

The BBC has released new pictures for this much-anticipated new drama from David Hare, the playwright.  Here's the writer's view on the new work.... "Please correct my maths if you can, but by my calculation I’ve lived almost fifty years under Tory rule. Considering that they’ve formed our last six governments, it’s amazing how little fiction Conservatives have generated. There are a couple of good plays about Harold Macmillan, and during the 1980s there was a huge amount of satirical vituperation against Margaret Thatcher. At that time, I wrote a film called Paris By Night in which Charlotte Rampling played a Thatcherite MP. But I’m typical among the writers of my time in having rarely looked closely at the appeal of Conservative values.  In Roadkill, I wanted to ask what happens when you put ideals of freedom and personal responsibility above all other virtues. I was also interested in the effect of believing that every one of us is alone responsible for the destiny and...
